Is AWS down right now?
AWS outages are usually regional and service-specific (e.g. us-east-1 S3), not global. This page checks aws.amazon.com; the AWS Health Dashboard shows per-region, per-service status, which is what you actually need during an incident.
Why is aws.amazon.com up but my app is down?
The AWS marketing site and your workloads run on different systems. A single region or service (EC2, RDS, Lambda) can be degraded while aws.amazon.com stays up — check the Health Dashboard for the region you deploy to.
